Homework 1

Homework 1: Due Friday 14 January

Vector Warm-Up

Let vector v_1 be a force vector with magnitude 200N pointing due north. Let vector v_2 be a force vector with magnitude 100N pointing 37 degrees south of east. Calculate the following quantities.

  1. vec v_3 = vec v_1 + vec v_2
  2. vec v_4 = vec v_1 - vec v_2
  3. vec v_5 = 3 vec v_1 + 4 vec v_2
  4. for each vector (v_3, v_4, v_5), draw a picture illustrating the new vector along with vec v_1 and vec v_2.
Sorry about the weird formatting. See me if you can't interpret this. (20 points total)
