**Class 1**: Introduction to the course. Introductory discussion of energy, conservation of energy, and power.**Lab 1**: Measurement and watt meters. Before lab sign up for a google account if you don't already have one. You'll need this to use google docs. We'll be using google spreadsheets throughout the class.**Class 2**: Read Chapter 1 of SEWTHA. Bring to class a few benchmarks about population and greenhouse gas emissions.

April 5-9.

**Class 3**: Different types of energy. Electric current. Generating electricity.**Lab 2**: Build your own electric generator. class.**Class 4**: More units. Different types of energy.

### Week Three

April 12-15.

**Class 5**: Windpower basics**Lab 3**: Windpower lab.**Class 6**: More Windpower.

### Week Four

April 19-23.

**Class 7**: Transportation. Overview of Coast Guard Project.**Lab 4**: Field trip to coast guard!**Class 8**: Transportation: people and freight.

### Week Five

April 26-30.

**Class 9**: Introduction to BTUs and other units. Begin finances.**Lab 5**: Spreadsheets and (if time) simple battery**Class 10**: Return on Investment, Payback Time, Discounting.

May 3-7.
